A fine French 18 carat gold open faced skeletonized quarter repeating verge watch, circa 1810. Full plate gilt fusee movement, both plates pierced and engraved revealing the trains, engraved barrel and barrel cover, finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with polished steel endstone, plain three armed gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring, silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator, blue and polished steel barrel ratchet, push pendant quarter repeating on two steel gongs, polished steel repeating work visible through the centre of the signed, white enamel ring dial with black Arabic numerals and fine blue steel hands. Substantial case with engine turned middle, the back with engine turning radiating from an oval cartouche near the lower edge. Signed sprung glazed cuvette, the maker’s name also engraved on the movement.
