A Swiss silver open faced cylinder watch with a small compass, circa 1860. Gilt 3/4 plate keywind movement with going barrel, top plate skeletonized and engraved with a scene of a town and inset with a small compass, engraved cock with polished steel regulator, plain three-arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring, polished steel cylinder, and steel escape wheel. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, and blue steel hands. Case chased and engraved, the back depicting a lakeside scene. Wound and set through the gilt cuvette engraved Chronometre and pierced to reveal the compass.
