A very fine Swiss 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating musical cylinder pocket watch, circa 1800. Decorated, musical movement with a view to the striking mechanism, cylinder escapement, repeating the hours and quarter hours. Cuvette with a representation of various musical instruments. Unique white enamel dial with Arabic hours and outer minute divisions, polychrome enamel scene depicting a putto with a flute, fine steel Breguet hands. Engine-turned case, maker’s mark HC. Case numbered.

The present calibre is extremely rare and stands out in its execution from the usual pocket watches with a musical movement. It is attributed to Jacques Oltramare, Geneva, some of these movements are signed.
