An early and very fine French 18 carat rose gold open faced minute repeating verge pocket watch, circa 1820. Verge movement, bridge and ratchet wheel polished stainless steel, gilt main plate, florally engraved, repeating the hours, quarter hours and minutes. Screwed white enamel dial with Arabic hours and outer minute divisions, steel hands. Engine-turned case, blank cartouche on the back, serrated band, case punched, case maker’s mark HC. Case numbered, dial signed, cuvette signed and numbered. Comes with, presumably, the original key.

Minute repeating verge watches are rare, especially in such high-quality as this piece. This watch was not made in A.L. Breguet‘s workshop but sold under the well-known name Breguet et Fils.
