Gold, enamel and diamond-set verge lady’s watch

A probably unique Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and diamond-set open faced verge miniature pendant watch, circa 1800. Verge movement. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals and Breguet hands. Bezel set with rose-cut diamonds, case surrounded by, probably, amethysts, pendant loop, the back with polychrome enamel painted medallion depicting the portrait of a lady.

Enamelled pendant watches from this period were worn as jewellery and are extremely rare. They came into fashion much later. Form watches were common, but they were normally not so splendidly decorated with stones.
