A large and exceptional Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel open faced quarter repeating cylinder pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1800. Glazed movement, cylinder escapement, repeating the hours and quarter hours (one gong missing). White enamel dial with Roman hours and outer minute divisions, steel hands. Case completely enamelled, floral motifs on both sides, the back with very fine polychrome enamel scene, punched K18. Case numbered.

The size of the watch and the quality of the enamel are impressive. Unusual is that the watch has no seconds function.
