A probably unique Swiss 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating Jacquemart pocket watch made for the English market, circa 1800. Verge movement, repeating the hours and quarter hours on a bell, which is under the raised dial. Multi-coloured gold figured automaton Jacquemart on a white-enamelled ground on the front, small decentralized white enamel dial with Roman hours and outer minute divisions. Plain case, the band pierced and engraved, liftable to both sides with small peripheral buttons, case punched CLR. Case signed and numbered, dial and movement signed.

Only a few of these bell striking watches are known, most of them with silver cases. This is probably the only piece with the bell and small decentralized dial coaxially to each and not positioned side by side as usual.
