Gold pair cased verge and silver chatelaine by Abraham Colomby

A museum like Swiss 18 Carat gold, enamel and stone set pair cased verge pocket watch with matching chatelaine, circa 1750. Early Geneva verge movement, worm gear. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes, extraordinary stone set silver hands (some stones missing). The outer case set with stones, enamel portrait of a lady on the back, plain inner case, maker’s mark G&R. The corresponding chatelaine, probably silver, stone set, four more enamel plaques with ladies portraits matching to the enamel plaque of the watch, chatelaine equipped with a key and signet, also set with stones. The crown on the chatelaine indicates noble ownership.
Dial signed, movement signed and numbered, case and movement with matching numbers.

Very similar gold enamel verge pocket watches by Abraham Colomby are exhibited in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, another with chatelaine can be found in the Cinquantenaire Museum in Brussels. The watch in this version is a museum rarity.
