A Swiss 18k gold hunting cased chronograph watch with central register, retailed by h. muller, london, shaghai circa 1871,  jeweled gilt lever movement, 18k gold cuvette.
White enamel dial, Roman numerals, outer scale calibrated for fifths of a second, central minute register, sunken constant seconds, case with engraved monogram, dial signed by retailer and numbered, case and cuvette signed by maker and numbered.

With an Extract from the Archives confirming sale in 1872.Muller was the sole agent for Patek Philippe in the 1870s and 1880s in Shanghai. An almost identical example of a Patek Philippe chronograph made for H. Muller is on exhibition at the Patek Philippe Museum. The example at the museum, movement number 47304, features an identical dial layout with Roman numerals and outer scale calibrated for fifths of a second. This example was originally sold to H. Muller for 1325 Swiss francs.
