An exceptionally rare and exquisite Swiss gold keyless hunting cased lever chronograph watch featuring a 15 minute register sector, circa 1871. This watch features a frosted gilded movement with wolf’s tooth winding and a steel chronograph mechanism partially visible through the backplate. It includes an extra half toothed sprung wheel that operates the flyback mechanism of the minute recorder, a bimetallic compensation balance, and a blued steel overcoil spring. The white enamel dial displays Roman numerals, an outer track for minutes, a chronograph seconds track, blued steel moon hands, recessed subsidiary seconds, and a sector for the 15 minute flyback register. The case is made of 18 carat gold with polished covers, a chronograph locking slide on the band, and a polished gold cuvette signed Patek Philippe & Co., Genève, with both the back cover and cuvette numbered.

The Patek Philippe Archives state that this watch was manufactured in 1870 and sold on 31 August 1871. It confirms that this is the earliest Patek Philippe chronograph featuring a register and the only known example with a flyback 15 minute recorder.

The movement is operational. The surfaces appear in good condition, with minor scuffs and scratches. The chronograph starts, stops, and resets; however, when running the minute register, it does not advance past the 14 minute mark. The dial is in good condition but has a few minor scratches. The case is in good repolished condition.
