A very fine and very rare Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased pocket watch with Adrien Philippe’s first patented stem-wind and handsetting mechanism of 1845 without coasting, circa 1860. Frosted gilt movement, 15 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight line lever escapement à moustache, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and original blued steel Breguet hands. Engine turned and polished case, flat topped winding crown. Gold hinged cuvette. Cuvette signed, case stamped M&B.
