Fine Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and pearl-set open faced verge pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1795. Frosted gilt full plate movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three armed brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock with endplate, silver regulation disc. White enamel dial with upright Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, eccentric winding aperture and original blued steel lozenge hands. Case decorated to the back with a finely painted on enamel portrait of a young lady in a blue and white dress, leaning on a pedestal supporting a pearl set urn, translucent royal blue ground over radial engine turning, pearl-set bezels.
