Gold open faced dress watch by Cartier

A fine and very elegant, thin French 18 carat gold open faced lever dress watch, circa 1920. Matte gilt movement, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance- spring, index regulator. An engine-turned silver dial with Arabic hours, an outer minute track and blued steel Breguet hands. Polished case with a wide bezel, coin-edge band, fluted pendant. Dial signed Cartier, movement numbered, case numbered and punched EJ in a lozenge for Edmond Jaeger.
