A fine Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1800. Frosted gilt full plate movement with flared turned pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental balance cock, polished steel endplate. White enamel dial with Arabic hours, outer star minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute numerals, winding aperture at 2 o’clock and partially replaced pierced and arrow gold hands. Hinged bezel with raised varicoloured gold leaf decoration, the case back with an engraved scene of a classical juvenile with birds in a landscape, highlighted with blue and white enamel, border matching the bezel. Dial signed, movement signed and numbered.
