A fine and large French vari coloured gold open faced pocket watch with outer protective case, circa 1775. Gilt full plate movement, conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, brass three armed balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased foliate continental balance cock, silver regulation dial. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions, Arabic five minute numerals and original gold beetle and poker hands. Gilt brass outer case overlaid with tortoiseshell, inner case engine turned and engraved with continuous concentric leaf patterns to the back, the centre decorated with a dog and urn in a landscape, bezel with laurel and berry decoration. Dial and movement signed.
