Rose gold chronograph with register and five co axial hands by Patek Philippe

A very fine and extremely rare Swiss 18 Carat rose gold open faced split-seconds chronograph keyless lever pocket watch with an instantaneous 60-minute register using a central hand made for the American market in 1884. Sold on December 30, 1884. Rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 25 jewels, counterpoised and calibrated straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, split-seconds chronograph with visible steelwork, released by depressing the winding crown and with push-piece in the band. Gold hinged cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute track and concentric chronograph ring with fifth of a second divisions, Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds, original gold spade hour and minute hands, blued steel minute recording hand. Polished case. Dial and movement signed. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.

This piece has the extremely rare feature of five co axial hands, the minute and hour hands, the split-seconds chronograph hands, and the central instantaneous minute recording hand. Watches incorporating this feature are very rare and to our knowledge, only two other examples of this type exist.
