Excellently preserved gold hunting cased pocket watch
–
An excellently preserved, particularly large gold hunting cased pocket watch with an anchor chronometer in a rare version, made by Patek Philippe & Co, in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1884. Crafted from 18 Carat gold, the full hunter case exudes elegance with its immaculate guilloché decoration. The original white enamel dial, featuring Roman numerals for the hours and a subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock with Arabic numerals for the seconds, is in remarkably good condition. The blued steel hands add a touch of sophistication to the overall design. The movement of this watch houses a rare calibre, an early lever chronometer escapement with a particularly long regulator hand, a moustache lever and Wolf’s teeth.
The dial, dust cover and movement are all signed and the dust cover and movement bear matching numbers.
