A fine and unusual French 18 carat gold montre de médaillon cylinder pendant watch, circa 1820. Matte gilt movement, standing barrel, jewelled cylinder escapement, three-arm balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. White enamel dial, annular, eccentric, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions engraved on the border, engine-turned centre, original blued steel spear and baton hands. Case forme quatre baguettes, both covers engine-turned à grains d’orge, reeded band, the front cover with a glazed aperture for the dial, the back with small central engraved monogram AC, the front cover opening to reveal an engine-turned gold plate and winding aperture. Movement signed.
