A very fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and pearl-set open faced eight-day going dead centre seconds pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1860. Gilt-brass eight-day going fully foliate engraved movement, Ø 50 mm, twin freestanding barrels, Jacot dead beat duplex escapement, three-arm balance with blued steel winged weights, flat balance spring, index regulator. A hinged and sprung glazed gilt-brass cuvette. White enamel dial with narrow Roman hours, an outer minute/seconds ring and Arabic quarter hours, blued steel Chinese hands. The case back with a polychrome enamel scene depicting an alpine lake view with a central dolphin fountain and a border of flowers and trees, split-pearl set bezels, pendant and bow, a reeded band. Movement numbered and signed in Chinese characters Tien-yé for Dimier.
