Gold and enamel verge watch

A fine Swiss 18 carat varicoloured gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1800. Frosted gilt full plate movement with flared turned pillars, fusee and chain, a verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental balance cock and polished steel endplate. White enamel dial with Arabic hours, outer star minute divisions with Arabic 15-minute numerals, a winding aperture at 2 o’clock, and partially replaced pierced and arrow gold hands. A hinged bezel with raised varicoloured gold leaf decoration, the case back with an engraved scene of a classical juvenile with birds in a landscape, highlighted with blue and white enamel, the border matching the bezel. Dial signed, movement signed and numbered.
