Gold, enamel, pearl- and diamond-set form watch by Mallet
–
A large Austrian/Swiss gold, enamel, pearl-and diamond-set mandolin-form pendant watch, made in Vienna, circa 1800. This watch is a rare version with an 18K gold case with a Vienna punch. It has multi-coloured enamel and is set with half pearls and diamonds. The Verge movement of the watch is signed by Mallet Paris. The enamel dial has small craquelling and features Breguet-style radial hours, an outer minutes track with fifteen-minute numerals and steel hands.

Length: 69 mm

Signed: Mallet Paris
–
The watch’s movement is intact, but a service is recommended. Minimal restorations were done, and the watch is in very beautiful condition. The workmanship is extremely detailed and valuable, and even the gold suspension is present.
–
This mandolin is an early version that still has the chain suspension, which is not present in later examples. The mandolin’s movements combine both Viennese and French signatures. The cases of these mandolins were likely made in Geneva and then imported to Vienna.

Signed: Mallet Paris
