Gold, enamel and pearl verge lady’s watch

A very fine and rare Swiss, 18K gold polychrome painted-on enamel and pearl-set pocket watch, circa 1800. Accompanied with gold and painted on enamel chatelaine and circular gold and painted on enamel snuff box. The snuff box is by Guidon, Rémond & Compagnie. Accompanied by a fitted box. An Empire case, hinged seed pearl-set bezel, the band decorated with an engraved repeat pattern, the back with a finely painted Geneva enamel scene of a young couple seated in a garden within a shield-shaped gold paillon border, translucent royal blue enamel outer border over engine turning with white enamel and blue paillon flower and foliate decoration, pearl-set border.

Chatelaine: pierced gold chains, two panels finely painted on enamel with oval scenes of a young lady with a basket of flowers in the lower panel and with a dog at her knee in the central panel, the upper panel and reverses decorated with gold paillon flowers and urns on Royal ble translucent guilloche enamel grounds within white enamel borders, two vacant seals en suite. White enamel dial, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, winding aperture at 2 o’clock. Gold arrow hands. A frosted gilt full plate movement with flared turned pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental balance cock, polished steel endplate, silver regulator dial.

Snuff Box: Drum form, the lid very finely painted with an oval scene of a mother and son standing at a velvet-covered table viewing engravings through a camera obscura, landscape background, gold paillon border and translucent Royal blue guilloche enamel ground, outer paillon border, the sides and base decorated with gold paillons on translucent Royal blue guilloche enamel grounds within white line borders. Dial and movement signed. Snuff box punched with Guidon, Rémond & Compagnie mark.
