A very fine and rare French gold open faced two train minute repeating grande and petite sonnerie clock watch, circa 1820. Mouvement de Paris, Répétition, Grande Sonnerie. Gilded brass movement, full plate with turned pillars, two barrels and trains, ruby cylinder escapement, three armed plain brass balance, blued steel balance spring with terminal curve and bimetallic compensation curb on the regulator, grande and petite sonnerie striking on two gongs with two hammers, the sonnerie (strike) silence (silent), grande petite selection levers through the edge of the cuvette, independent minute repeating train with two hammers on two gongs, activated by a pull-twist piston in the pendant. Engraved gold cuvette. White enamel dial by Droz (signed underneath) with Roman numerals, outer minute track with Arabic numerals and gold Breguet hands. Four body forme quatre baguettes engine turned gains d’orge case, ball shaped pendant and round bow. Case numbered and stamped with Jean-Louis Joly’s master mark, dial and cuvette signed, cuvette engraved with technical specifications.
