Fine gilt bronze striking clock watch

A fine and rare German gilt bronze stackfreed pre balance spring striking clock watch, circa 1580. Full plate iron movement, verge escapement with foliot and hog’s bristle, C shaped stackfreed, striking on one hammer onto a bell. Gilt metal dial, outer chapter ring with engraved Roman numerals and twelve touch pins, engraved inner 24 hour (13 to 24) Arabic divisions with German Z for numeral 2, pinhole for setting the striking, centre engraved with sunray motif and a wind rose and single blued steel hand. Tambour shaped case, hinged front cover pierced with twelve heart shaped openings for the hour markers, engraved floral decorated centre and floral and foliate decorated rim, central aperture for the setting of the hand, pierced foliage decorated band, pierced and engraved floral and foliage decoration to the back and containing the bell.
