An unusual Swiss 18 carat gold quarter repeating automaton watch with the Jacks striking hours and quarters on two bells, circa 1800. A director case polished back with a white enamel, a small eccentric dial with Arabic numerals and steel blue hands. White enamel background with applied four-coloured gold Jacks striking hours and quarters, flanked on each side of two bells below the dial. Hinged gilt brass, full plate movement with conical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain gold three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental clock with polished end-piece. Striking on two bells by depressing the pendant. Hinged gilt brass dust cap.

Compared to most other repeating automaton watches, which are fitted with mock automata, hours and quarters are being struck by hammers on gongs, in this watch the hammers held by the automata hit the bells.
