An extremely rare Swiss, 18K yellow gold, keyless special half open-faced pocket watch, circa 1881. With split-seconds, chronograph and regulator dial Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives by Patek Philippe & Co. Genève made for Bailey, Banks & Biddle, Philadelphia. A polished bassine, hinged bezel over a fixed bezel, chronograph button in the crown, split-seconds button and locking slide in the band at 10 and 11 o’clock.
Hinged gold cuvette with engraved dedication. White enamel dial, outer minute track, outermost seconds divided into fifths, five-minute/ seconds red Arabic numerals, meantime dial at 12 o’clock with radial Roman numerals and outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. A maillechort movement, Geneva striping decoration, 21 jewels, straight-line calibrated and counterpoised lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed by the retailer.
