Gold open faced verge watch, attributed to Jean-Louis Richter

A fine and rare Swiss 18K gold large pearl-set pocket watch with polychrome enamel scene,, circa 1800. Gilt, full plate movement, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, blued steel flat balance spring, continental type balance cock, silvered regulation dial.
Case with pearl set bezels, enameled pendant and bow, the back with a fine painted on enamel lake and mountain scene with a dark blue guilloché enamel sky.
White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute indexes and Arabic quarter hour numerals. Gold Breguet hands.

Jean-Louis Richter (1766-1841). Learned his art under David-Etienne-Roux and Philippe-Samuel-Théodore Roux. His work, often unsigned, is clearly recognizable. Richter applied his art principally to watch cases and snuff boxes largely destined for the Chinese, Turkish, British and Italian markets. This watch watch was previously sold in the Lord Sandberg sale.
