Gold half hunting cased pocket watch
–
A fine English 18 carat yellow gold half savonnette pocket watch, made by Graham in London for the Ottoman market. Dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, it features a three body solid gold case. The front cover has an annular chapter ring with Turkish numerals and a blue enamelled railway minute track. The back is smoothly polished, and the matching gold inner cuvette is also numbered. The band has a fluted crown. The case bears the London leopard’s head hallmark in a flat surround (pre 1896) and a later London hallmark for 1940 (letter E). Both the case and cuvette are numbered. The white enamel dial displays Turkish numerals, a painted minute track, small seconds at 6 o’clock, and double pear shaped hands. The dial is signed and numbered. Inside, the keyless manual wind movement has a cylinder escapement and is signed and numbered in platinum on the plates.
