An English fine gold quarter repeating pair case verge watch with date and repousse decoration, circa 1710, gilded full plate, verge escapement, decoratively pierced and engraved balance cock with steel 3 arm balance, silvered regulation, two polished hammers striking on an internal bell.
Gold champlevé dial, Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring, signature cartouches, quatrefoil half-hour divisions, round aperture for date at six o’clock, blued steel beetle and poker hands, dial signed.
Case: Engraved inner with pierced sound frets, finely engraved outer with pierced and engraved foliate design and the profiles of four Greek philosophers in relief, push repeat activated via the engraved pusher, heavy squared hinge.
