A Swiss gold, enamel, pearl, and gem set open faced cylinder watch, made for the Chinese market, circa 1790. The watch features a gilded full plate movement with applied scrolling foliate decoration, a cylinder escapement, a pierced and engraved balance cock, and a diamond endstone. It has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, an Arabic outer track, and centre seconds. The gold case has a back with a polychrome enamel scene of an 18th-century lady playing a lyre, a pearl and ruby set bezel, and two colour gold floral decoration on the bands.
