There do not appear to be any records relating to William Judd. However, the design of this watch’s dial, together with the shape and character of the case and the form of mainspring set-up, suggest that it was made in the latter part of the 1640s or perhaps the early 1650s. Unusually, the cock is of silver, and the short terminal to the case would have helped to position the watch in an outer protective case.

Signed: William Judd fecit
