A very fine, elegant French 18 carat and black enamel concealed travel clock, circa 1925. Jewelled nickel lever movement. Square cream enamel dial with painted Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track and blued heavy moon hands. A rectangular case with double cabochon buttons for the release, the back with engraved monogram AKB and secured by four screws in the band. Dial, case and movement signed, case and movement numbered.

Cartier was founded by Louis-François Cartier. He was born in 1810. In 1847, Louis-François was able to take over the jewellery shop of his teacher Adolphe Picard at 31 Rue de Montreuil, Paris. It is a French jewellery house specializing in making very luxurious jewellery such as rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and watches. The company remained under family control until 1964 and maintains its headquarters in Paris.
