Vaucher, also known as Vauchez, was a French watchmaker who worked in Paris around 1800. He was probably a descendant of Daniel Vaucher, a master watchmaker from Fleurier who moved to Paris in 1760. While Vaucher lived in Paris, his wife and six children stayed in Fleurier but later joined him. The children—Jonas-Frédéric, Jean-Henri-David, François, Jean-Jacques, Samuel, and Isabelle-Salomé Vaucher—all became watchmakers. The family made many fine watches, usually signed as Vauchez en la Cité. The signature may contain a mistake, with an ‘r’ written as a ‘z.’
