Gold open faced cylinder watch

A fine French, quarter repeating, 18K gold, painted and champleve enamel pocket watch, circa 1825. A chased flower and shell bezel, pendant and border, the back cover decorated with champlevé painted on enamel flowers including a rose and peony, chased gold leaves, and black enamel ground. Silver dial, engine-turned with a sunray pattern, radial champlevé Roman numerals, outer minute divisions. Gold Breguet hands. A matte gilt movement, jewelled cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, blued steel fl at balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing a pull-and-twist piston in the pendant. Cuvette signed.
