Gold, enamel and pearl pocket watch

A very fine Swiss 18K gold, polychrome painted-on enamel and pearl-set pocket watch, circa 1800. An Empire case, hinged seed pearl-set bezel, the band decorated with an engraved repeat pattern, the back with a finely painted Geneva enamel scene of a young couple seated in a garden within a shield-shaped gold paillon border, translucent royal blue enamel outer border over engine turning with white enamel and blue paillon flower and foliate decoration, pearl-set border.

White enamel dial, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, winding aperture at 2 o’clock and gold arrow hands. A frosted gilt full plate movement with flared turned pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental balance cock, polished steel endplate, silver regulator dial. Dial and movement signed.
