Gold open faced lever watch

A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by Patek Philippe for A.H. Rodanet, circa 1880. It has a mechanical crown set manual wind movement with a moustache lever escapement, a bimetallic balance wheel, and a blued steel Breguet balance spring. The white enamel dial displays painted black stylised Breguet numerals for the hours, an external railway minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel Breguet style hands. There are two faint hair cracks between 12 and 1 o’clock. The watch features a round, solid gold open faced case with a fluted crown, a decorative round bow, a fluted caseband, and an inner gold back cuvette engraved A. H. Rodanet, constructeur de chronomètres, 36, rue Vivienne, Paris. The case has a guilloché reverse and is monogrammed at the bottom.
