A French 20K gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, The Tavern, circa 1775. A Louis XV case, the back with a polychrome enamel scene depicting the interior of a tavern with two gentlemen seated at a table, the border and bezel chased with scrolls.

 

White enamel dial, radial Roman hours, outer minute track with five-minute Arabic numerals, winding aperture at 3 o’clock and gold Louis XV hands. A hinged gilt-brass full plate movement with pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental cock, silver regulation disc. Movement signed.
