A rare French, 18 carat yellow gold quarter repeating musical pocket watch, circa 1820. The movement is attributed to Piguet et Meylan. An Empire, engine turned case with polished borders, reeded band, bolt at 1 o`clock to lock the repeat. Hinged gilt brass cuvette with apertures for winding. Silver dial, radial champlevé Roman numerals on a brushed chapter ring, outer minute track, engine-turned centre and blued steel Breguet hands.

Gilt brass two-train movement, with standing barrel for the going train, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, flat balance spring, polished steel endplate, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Sur plateau musical movement, 21 tuned, music playing on the hour or at will, blued steel vibrating blades acting on both sides of the pinned disc, music/silence lever at the edge of the cuvette beneath the back cover. Cuvette signed.
