An exquisite French 18K gold open faced quarter repeating gentleman’s pocket watch, circa 1820. Signed, frosted gilt full plate movement, keywind, two hammers, chain and fusee, solid circular movement pillars, virgule escapement, three-arm brass balance, fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge, chatoned diamond endstone on balance.
Polished case, cobalt blue enamelled monogram on the back, reeded band, rear bell, pusher for repetition through the pendant, signed movement protection cap. Signed white enamel dial with Arabic hours, outer minute divisions and blued serpentine hands.

Jean Voyer was born on November 3, 1779 in Angoulême, Charente, France. He worked as a watchmaker in Angoulême where he married Catherine Benet (1791-1839) on November 29, 1809. From this marriage, three children were born but none of them has a known profession. Jean Voyer died on April 28, 1831, at the age of 51 in Angoulême.
