Pocket watch with high quality Orient pearls

A fine gold enamel pocket watch with high quality Orient pearls, made in France (?) circa 1790 / 1890.

The excellent quality open faced case with a small integrated opening button was crafted in 1790 from 18 Carat gold and has Oriental pearls on both sides, has a French gold punch and is engine turned with red enamel on the back. The white enamel dial has an outer ring with black Arabic numerals for the minutes and hours and gold original hands. The movement was originally equipped with a verge escapement but that was replaced by a high grade Vacheron & Constantin lever escapement from 1890 a precision movement with moustache lever and Wolf’s toothing.
