This watch boasts a 20-carat gold engine-turned case with a reeded band, a numbered and signed gold dome and a case maker’s punch mark PBT. It also features a slide for the repeating mechanism. The white enamel dial showcases radial Roman numerals, the signature Lepinte Sucr.de Mugnier, and blued Breguet hands. This timepiece was crafted by Mugnier the Younger, who had his workshop situated at Rue Neuve des Petits Champs in Paris. Mugnier held the position of watchmaker to Emperor Napoleon I as well as to Monsieur, the younger brother of King Louis XVIII and later King Charles X. He served his apprenticeship under Abraham Louis Breguet. This particular watch was created in a style similar to that of Breguet. Mugnier and Charles Oudin, another of Breguet’s pupils, were the only makers, aside from the master himself, who could produce watches of such exceptional quality. This watch can easily be compared to most of Breguet’s superior watches.
