Gold open faced pocket watch
–
An early and very fine verge watch with minute repeater, signed by Breguet et Fils, Paris circa 1820. An 18K pink gold, splendour case, intricately engine turned, serrated band, case punched (Breguet et Fils, number 3688, case maker’s mark HC 2919), dome signed and numbered, verge movement in particularly splendid design, bridge and ratchet wheel polished stainless steel, gilt main plate, florally engraved, repeating of the hours, quarters and minutes, screwed enamel dial in very good condition, steel hands, in excellent original condition, including presumably original splendour key.

Verge watches with minute repeating are rarities, especially in such high quality as this watch. The watch does not come from A. L. Breguet’s workshop, but was sold under the famous name “Breguet et Fils”. The watch is of extremely high quality.
