Pocket watch with an eccentric dial and cylinder escapement
–
An exquisite gold enamel pocket watch with a corresponding gold enamel chatelaine, made by Josef Dieudonné Kinable in Paris, France, circa 1820. This 18 Carat gold pocket watch is adorned with an extremely elaborate and multicoloured enamelled housing, divided into 16 segments, each depicting various flowers on a black background. The dust cover is signed, numbered and engraved with the Paris gold hallmark from 1819. The engine turned silver dial is a sight to behold, with steel hands that are passable and add to the overall elegance of the watch. The watch features a very fine, flat movement that is eccentric in design with a cylinder escapement. To complete the set a matching 18 Carat gold original chatelaine is included, enamelled in the same way as the watch. The chatelaine weighs approximately 16 grams and is a beautiful accessory that complements the watch perfectly.
