Highly exquisite gold enamel pocket watch
–
A French highly exquisite gold enamel pocket watch with centre seconds, virgule escapament and very fine enamel decoration, studded with split pearls, circa 1820.
The back of this marvellous pocket watch is elaborately decorated with a translucent cobalt blue enamel medallion on engine-turned floral and geometric pattern. The medallion is framed by a double row of lustrous split pearls on both sides of a fine paillon band, which is repeated in the bezel on the front. The square pendant is decorated with identical paillon flowers on both sides. A charming treasure of fine quality even with minor restorations.
The case is 18 carat gold, pendant with number and punch mark “CL”. White enamel dial, Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic minutes. Bridge movement, keywind, going barrel and three-arm brass balance.
