Gold verge with an outer protective case

A very fine Swiss 18K gold, enamel and pearl-set open faced verge pocket watch with an outer protective case, circa 1790. A pearl-set bezel, the back with a finely painted enamel scene of a girl and boy in a landscape, the girl holding two cherries to tempt the boy who has his hands behind his back surrounded by a gold paillon border with a silhouette portrait at the bottom, an outermost pearl-set border.

White enamel dial with upright Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, Arabic quarter-hour numerals and gold arrow hands. A matte gilt movement, full plate, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial. Dial and movement signed.
