A very fine French 18-carat gold half-hunter pocket watch with an enamel crest for the families of Trelawny and Monck, circa 1880. Frosted gilt bar lever movement with a bimetallic balance wheel.
White enamel dial with black Roman numerals and outer five-minute divisions, gilt double spade hands, subsidiary dial for running seconds at 6. Polished and engine-turned case with red, green and white enamel Roman chapter ring, the reverse with fine enamel crest possibly indicating the marriage between the Trelawny and Monck families and reading, sermon Consuna facta (The conversation was done) on a fine engine-turned case.
