–
An exquisite, flat French pocket watch with a pusher doctor’s chronograph, 30-minute counter and pulsometer scale, circa 1925. A so-called Montre De Poche Medicale. This timepiece features an 18K gold polished case with a push-back. It has a silvered dial with Breguet-style radial hours, outer minutes, and fifths of a second chronograph division. The dial also includes five-minute/second Arabic numerals, an outermost pulsometer scale graduated to 200 pulsations, subsidiary dials for the seconds and the 30-minute counter, a centre chronograph hand, and blued steel spade hands. The rhodium-plated bridge movement is signed: European Watch & Clock Co. Inc. Swiss and is adorned with Geneva striping decoration, an anchor escapement, and a screw compensation balance.

This timepiece is known for its uncommon pulsation scale. More typical are Cartier’s pocket watch chronographs with an external 60-second calibration. All functions, such as starting, stopping, and resetting the hand to zero, are activated by the winding crown. The high-quality movement features 29 jewels and has undergone testing in 8 positions. It bears the signature “European Watch and Clock Co., Inc.” a collaboration between LeCoultre (later Jaeger-LeCoultre) and Cartier, established in 1919 to produce exclusive mechanisms for Cartier wristwatches.
