French gold repeating automaton with Jaquemarts Circa 1820

A very fine French open faced pink gold figure automaton Jacquemart with decentralized dial and figures in exceptional quality “à quatre couleurs”,  Leroy Paris, circa 1820. An 18 carat pink gold polished case and ribbed band, signed cuvette, cylinder movement with spring loaded dust cover, back plate with engraved details. Repeating hours and quarters on two steel gongs and a slider in the band serves as a kind of safety device to prevent the repeating from being activated accidentally.
Dial with decentralized time indication and dark blue enamel background, blued steel hands, figures of the automaton in extremely detailed and very good quality, made in four different gold colours, partly polished, partly matted, very finely carved, partly meticulously engraved details, creating an incredible plastic effect, even facial features and hairstyles are very well recognisable, exceptional quality, movement intact, in stunning condition. Dust cover signed.
