Gold open faced pocket watch

A very fine and large French 18 carat rose gold open faced gentleman’s pocket watch with visible balance made by Jean-Antoine Lépine in Paris, circa 1810. The plain case has a reeded band, maker’s punch mark IHP and a cuvette engraved with technical details. The signed gilded silver, richly engraved face features an eccentric white enamel dial with Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions, a visible five arm balance at 12 o’clock and Breguet hands. The frosted gilt bridge movement is fitted with a going barrel and cylinder escapement.
