An ultra thin French 18 carat yellow gold hunting cased keyless dress watch made for Cartier in Paris, circa 1938. A solid, knife edged, plain case. With London import marks for 1938-1939. White enamel dial with bold Roman hour numerals, outer minute track and blued steel heavy moon hands. Movement is made by the European Watch Company Inc. A rhodium plated movement with 21 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance adjusted to two positions, blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator. Dial signed by the retailer, case stamped LS and the movement signed by the watchmaker.

The case is of unusual construction, the movement is housed in an adapter ring of which the top part forms the bezel.
